The Long Haul to China
With this year being the Chinese year of the Horse I entered the dragon and galloped off to Shanghai to UTECH China 2014. After a hearty breakfast at Manchester Airport and the customary Duty Free shopping I boarded Emirates flight EK 0018 to Pudong International Airport. 5682 miles and a shattering 16 hours later I arrived in a rather overcast Shanghai and booked into the Shanghai Hilton HHonors Suite.
This wasn’t a trip purely for pleasure but to reinforce Anglo China relations and meet all Jiahua Chemicals key staff. It was also an opportunity to see how accurately BZ’s design and marketing concepts were translated into 3 dimensions.
With a population of 14.35 million and one of the most breathtaking skylines in the world, Shanghai is an intense bustling city as was Jiahua’s stand on my arrival. In fact it was one of the busiest stands at the show, with a constant stream of visitors and back to back meetings all day long. BZ’s concepts were interpreted perfectly by the construction company and Jiahua’s stand really stood out from the competition and with clear strong messages. It proved to be the best show to date for Jiahua with a multitude of orders and leads generated.
From BZ’s perspective the show was equally a success. Not only was the relationship between the two companies firmly cemented, but as BZ moves ever further into the world’s urethanes and chemical markets there were some great introductions and a fantastic opportunity for BZ to open offices in Shanghai which made the 11364 mile round trip well worth it.
